Five results went against the majority verdict, which is a respectable but hardly flawless return for a day on which several models saw the same fixtures very differently.

The headline surprise came from the KHL, where Avangard Omsk beat Yekaterinburg 3-2 despite only four of ten models backing the home side. That single result accounted for the day's most stubborn miss, with the consensus having settled on a Yekaterinburg win at 60 per cent of models and an average confidence of 56 per cent.

Where the AI got it right

SKA St. Petersburg vs Shanghai prediction was the day's most emphatic call: all ten models backed SKA, with an average confidence of 76 per cent and a most common score of 4-1. The actual 7-2 result was more lopsided than anyone projected, but the direction was never in doubt.

Karlovy Vary vs Trinec prediction went the way nine of ten models expected. Trinec won 2-0 on the road, matching the consensus pick at 90 per cent of models, with an average confidence of 58 per cent and a most common score of 2-3.

Tractor Chelyabinsk vs Lokomotiv Yaroslavl prediction was another 90 per cent call that held. Lokomotiv took it 4-1 away from home, against a most common score of 3-4 and an average confidence of 61 per cent.

In Liiga, KalPa vs Hameenlinna prediction and Assat vs Vaasan Sport prediction were both unanimous picks at 100 per cent of models. KalPa won 7-0 and Assat won 5-1, both far wider than the 3-2 scorelines the models most commonly projected.

Two further National League calls landed cleanly: Rapperswil-Jona vs EHC Kloten prediction was unanimous at 100 per cent and Kloten delivered 4-3, while Davos vs Langnau Tigers prediction was also 100 per cent and finished 4-1 to Davos.

Where it got it wrong

The five misses were spread across three competitions, and two of them were unanimous calls. Lausanne vs Zug prediction saw all ten models back Lausanne with an average confidence of 61 per cent and a most common score of 4-2. Zug won 5-0.

TPS Turku vs Jukurit prediction was the other unanimous failure: 100 per cent of models picked TPS at an average confidence of 57 per cent and a most common score of 3-2. Jukurit won 4-1.

In the National League, Zurich vs Bern prediction had nine of ten models on Bern with a most common score of 2-4 and an average confidence of 61 per cent. Zurich won 5-3. Biel vs Fribourg prediction was the same split in reverse: 90 per cent on Fribourg at 58 per cent average confidence, most common score 2-3, and Biel won 4-2.

The KHL added the fifth miss, with Avangard Omsk vs Yekaterinburg prediction going against a 60 per cent consensus on Yekaterinburg. Omsk won 3-2, matching the most common score the models had listed but not the winner they had chosen.

Models of the day

Claude Sonnet 5 and Gemini 3.8 Flash share the day's best record at 13 of 16 correct each, three clear of the consensus line. Grok 4.6 and GLM 5.3 followed on 12 of 16, with GPT-5.6 Luna and Qwen 3.8 Max on 11 of 16.

At the other end, Mistral Medium 3.5 finished bottom on 8 of 16, five short of the leading pair. MiMo V2.5 Pro was next on 9 of 16, while DeepSeek V4 Pro and Kimi K3 both landed on 10 of 16.
